Hey, glad to tell you that I'm back! Working on the Lore of Coreline - one could say I work on Lorecine! I am super impressed by the sudden progress and new ideas that I've got. Taking the weekend really helped me focus on myself, and therefore, I've been getting new and better ideas! Most of the plot holes that I have struggled to fill have led me to understand what was needed! I'm not sure if I should post it or not because it’s an explanation for the whole story so far and ALL the past lore of Coreline ALL conflicts, and how the City even evolved to grow the way it did, with MAYOR spoilers. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUPER interesting and SO much COOL lore... stuff that's super cool to know, but not like explained in the book, because for time reasons ... one without spoilers would be this:
Growing labs Now you might be wondering, where do wood, fruit, or herbs come from... In a city that is completely concrete? Good question, so there are these so-called “growing labs” Here, for example, wood can be grown at 100x the speed. Genetically manipulated to take in minerals way faster, it can extend its normal growth too. This, however, came at the cost of a lifetime. This wood often starts to mold after a few years, especially if it's exposed to moisture. The life expectancy is about 7 years for a single wooden plank. That's why the city is built entirely with stone or steel and why most of the wood is moldy or of poor quality.
